Rocky Mountain Health Foundation Awards Grants $239,000 to 10 Nonprofit Organizations

Ten nonprofit organizations (serving 13 Western Slope counties) received a total of $239,000 in the inaugural round of grant awards from Rocky Mountain Health Foundation. Grants were awarded to organizations and programs that address access to healthcare; preventive care and services; behavioral health services; case management; population health (including integrating social service programs and health systems); and community-based projects. The funding supports health and wellness related causes that directly impact education/prevention/access to health, community engagement, intervention, and treatment.

“We are thrilled to distribute funds from our first cycle,” said Lisa Fenton Free, executive director. “We are funding the future of community health and developing the next generation of community health leaders. What a gift it is to work with others and make our community better.”

The recipients are Black Canyon Boys & Girls Club (Montrose), Counseling and Education Center (Grand Junction), The PIC Place (Montrose), Family & Intercultural Resource Center (Silverthorne), Karis/The House (Grand Junction), Partners (Grand Junction), Montrose County Senior Citizens Transportation/ All Points Transit (Montrose), Silverton School District #1 (Silverton), Yampa Valley Autism Program (Steamboat Springs), and Valley Settlement (Carbondale).

Rocky Mountain Health Foundation was established in 2017 to improve the health of western slope Coloradans by being a catalyst and collaborator for innovative healthcare approaches and promoting the health and well-being of Western Slope communities. The Foundation received requests for $1,149,153 from 29 agencies for its first quarter.

It is anticipated that $1 million will be distributed in 2018 throughout quarterly grant awards. Proposals for the next funding cycle are due April 18. Prospective grant applicants may inquire with questions to Kim Lewis, Grant Manager, at 970-697-1038 or kim@rmhealth.org.
